Newhey 'rat run' to close

Date published: 29 January 2018

A bridleway in Newhey that is being used as a 'rat run' is set to be closed as a road permanently from 1 March.

The bridleway, Bethany Lane, had become a way for vehicles to avoid the main Huddersfield Road, leading to a temporary closure for 12 months in September:

Ward councillor Andy Kelly said: “This is all down to the residents: people got together and organised what they wanted, and they were listened to. Well done to the residents of Bethany Lane and the Haugh for being organised and involved.”

Bollards and signs will be installed on or around the closure date.
