Love is in the air for Heywood couple

Date published: 13 February 2018

Love is in the air for a Heywood couple who will be celebrating their silver wedding anniversary an impressive five stone lighter.

Clare and Martyn Stanley are shining with confidence after losing three and two stone respectively and are looking forward to celebrating their silver wedding anniversary in June. Clare is also 50 this month.

Martyn said: “We had tried on a few occasions to lose weight individually but never really managed to stay motivated.

"We both wanted to celebrate our two anniversaries in style by going on a romantic break in Europe, but after spending last year’s break hiding behind baggy clothes and being generally uncomfortable with the weight we were carrying we decided that ‘enough was enough’ and we were both going to do it together.”

Both dreaded the thought of making difficult food sacrifices and admit that previous attempts at weight loss had led to sabotaging each other.

Martyn commented: “We have found it easier because we are both eating the same meals and we think about what we really enjoy.”

The couple have praise for their Weight Watchers meeting coach, Kelly Leatherbarrow, and her “inspirational” meetings: “We both get a lot from the weekly meetings. We are supported by the other members and our coach is a bundle of energy and we can’t help but leaving the meetings feeling recharged.”

Kelly said: “Clare and Martyn are a great asset to the meeting, helping keeping it young and vibrant with their ideas and showing how sharing the weight loss journey with someone makes it all the more successful and enjoyable.”
