Cash-strapped council spent half a million on consultants

Date published: 20 February 2018

Rochdale Borough Council spent close to half a million pounds - £493,082.11  - on consultants in 2017, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

Asked to detail what services each consultant provided, the Council refused to answer citing Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act, claiming it would 'take more than 18 hours to determine, locate, retrieve and extract the information'.

Rochdale Online has subsequently submitted a request for copies of the consultants’ invoices.
