Roadworks, temporary local road closures and restrictions

Rochdale

Location: A58 Halifax Road between Birch Road and Smithy Bridge Road.

Expected start and finish: emergency works commenced 21 February 2018. It's estimated these works will continue well into the following week.

Reason:  the works are required by Electricity North West to locate and repair a high voltage mains cable fault which is affecting a significant number of properties in the area, including Birch Hill Hospital. The excavation to locate the fault is occupying the full width of the footway and over a significant length resulting in insufficient width to maintain pedestrians in the footway. Electricity North West implemented a closure of the footway with the correct signage situated either side of their work area and also footway closed ahead signs with a pedestrian diversion at the pedestrian crossings facilities located at both Birch Road and Union Road.

Alternative route: the contra-flow system will only be implemented off peak between the hours of 9am-4pm, outside of these times there will only be one lane closed heading towards Littleborough to facilitate a pedestrian walkway.

Location: Croft Street from its junction with Halifax Road (A58)

To temporarily

prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Croft Street from its junction with Halifax Road (A58) for a distance of 20 metres in a northerly direction.

suspend The County Council of Lancashire (Traffic Regulation Order) 1946 (Wardle Urban District) (One Way) along Croft Street from its junction with Halifax Road (A58) to its junction with Ashbrook Hey Lane, in such that vehicles will be permitted to travel in both directions.

Expected start and finish: Emergency works commenced at 11am, Thursday, 22 February 2018 and will be operative until 11.59pm, Wednesday 14 March 2018 or until the works are complete, whichever is sooner.

Reason: The prohibition is required to allow the safe repairs to a leaking gas main located in the carriageway.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is via Halifax Road, Ashbrook Hey Lane, Croft Street and vice-versa. 

Location: Rochdale Footpath, Oldham Road

to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from:

Rochdale Footpath 43, RocFFp43, for its entire length in an east north east direction from its junction with Oldham Road, Rochdale being 50 metres south south east from the most southerly corner of 2 Gilbrook Way, to its junction with Milnrow Footpath 331, MilFp33l.

Milnrow Footpath 331, MilFp33l, for its entire length in an east north east direction from its junction with RocFFp43 for 92 metres before turning in an easterly direction for 23 metres to its junction with Milnrow Footpath 329, MilFp329, and Milnrow Footpath 330, MilFp33O, being 123 metres east of the most northerly corner of 37 Sunhill Close, Rochdale.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am, Thursday, 14 December 2017 - 12 midnight, Monday, 14 May 2018.

Reason: The order is required to facilitate underground cabling works by Electricity North West.

Alternative route: There is no alternative route for pedestrians.

Location: Greenwood Street

To temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Greenwood Street from its junction with Great George Street for a distance of 30 metres in a south easterly direction.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 4 January 2018 - 6pm, Wednesday, 4 April 2018.

Reason: To facilitate the safe renovation works to adjacent building.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is via Great George Street, School Lane, Greenwood Street and vice-versa.

Location: Rochdale Town centre

To temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the following:

Milton Street, the easterly footway from its junction with Baillie Street to its junction with Smith Street.

Smith Street, the northerly footway from its junction with Milton Street to its junction with John Street.

John Street, the westerly footway from its junction with Smith Street to a point 100 metres north of its junction with Baillie Street.

And to temporarily prohibit traffic from proceeding along the following:

Kelsall Street, for its entire length.

Acker Street, for its entire length.

And to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Constantine Road for its entire length.

And to temporarily suspend the Borough of Rochdale (Baillie Street, Rochdale) (Prohibition of Driving) Order 2013 in that vehicles will be permitted to travel in both directions on Baillie Street between its junctions with Bell Street and Acker Street.

And to temporarily introduce one-way working on Baillie Street from its junction with Constantine Road to its junction with Bell Street in that vehicles will be prohibited from travelling in a westerly direction between its junction with Constantine Road to its junction with Bell Street.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 5 March 2018 - 6pm, Thursday, 5 September 2019.

Reason: to facilitate the safe construction of a retail development.

Alternative route: Due to the nature of the temporary orders, it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Location: Smith Street/Milton Street

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Smith Street from its junction with Milton Street to its junction with John Street and Molesworth Street.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 12 March 2018 - 6pm, Friday 13 April 2018.

Reason: to facilitate the construction of a new retail development.

Alternative route: the alternative route for westbound vehicles will be via John Street, St Mary’s Gate, Union Street, Penn Street, Baillie Street, Milton Street. The alternative route for eastbound vehicles will be via Milton Street, Baillie Street, John Street.

Location: a temporary lane closure on St Mary's Gate (A58).

Expected start and finish: 9.30am-3.30pm from Monday, 19 March 2018 - Monday, 9 April 2018.

Reason: to allow remedial works to Rochdale Police Station to be carried out.

Alternative route: due to the nature of the temporary lane closure, it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Location: Rochdale Town Hall Square (front) and The Esplanade

to temporarily:

Prohibit vehicles from proceeding along the Town Hall Square (front) and The Esplanade, the entire enclosed car parking area.

Prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time along the Town Hall Square (front) and The Esplanade, the entire enclosed car parking area.

Suspend those parts of the Borough of Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Rochdale Township) Order 2008 along those sections of Highway specified in the temporary prohibition of waiting at any time in this order.

The Town Hall Square (rear), the entire car parking area.

Vicar's Gate, for it's entire length.

Prohibition of Waiting on Yorkshire Street, 6am-11.30am, Saturday, 28 April 2018

Reason: to facilitate the safe holding of the Fusilier 50 Freedom Parades 2018.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles on The Esplanade is via Newgate, St. Mary's Gate, The Esplanade and vice versa. Due to the nature and duration of the parade, it is not necessary for any other alternative routes to be in place.

Middleton

Location: Spring Vale from its junction with Townley Street

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Spring Vale from its junction with Townley Street for a distance of 20 metres in an easterly direction.

Expected start and finish: Friday, 27 October 2017 - midnight, 23 March 2018.

Reason: to allow the safe investigation and repair of a collapse in the carriageway.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is via Spring Vale, Townley Street, Oldham Road and vice-versa.

Location:  Mosedale Road junction with Falcon Drive

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Mosedale Road from a point 70 metres south of its junction with Falcon Drive for the remainder of its length in a northerly direction. 

Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 1 March 2018 - 6pm, Saturday, 14 April 2018.

Reason: To facilitate the safe installation of a new sewer and reconstruction of the carriageways.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be via Newton Crescent, Gale Drive, Mosedale Road and vice versa.

Heywood

Location: Coniston Grove junction with Walton Street

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Coniston Grove from its junction with Walton Street for its entire length.

Expected start and finish: 8.00am, Monday, 5 March 2018 - 11.59pm, Monday 26 March 2018

Reason: to allow the safe repair of a sewer in the carriageway.

Alternative route: due to the nature of the temporary closure, there are no alternative routes in place.

Location: Heady Hill Road from the junction of Bury New Road

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Heady Hill Road from the junction of Bury New Road to a point 45 metres in a southerly direction.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am, Monday, 5 March 2018 - 3.30pm, Friday 9 March 2018

Reason: to facilitate the safe repair of a waste water manhole cover in the carriageway.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is via Bury New Road, Whalley Road, Heady Hill Road and vice-versa.

Location: Fox Street, from the junction of Hill Street

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along:

Fox Street, from the junction of Hill Street to the junction of Mission Street.

Fox Street, from the junction of Mission Street to the junction of Taylor Street.

Bethel Street, from the junction of Fox Street to a point 10 metres in an easterly direction.

Expected start and finish: Emergency 7am, Thursday 8 March, 2018 - 5pm, Friday 30 March, 2018. Only one street will be closed at any one time as the works will take place on a rolling program. Access will be maintained when no works are taking place.

Reason: to facilitate the installation of new multi utilities services in the carriageway.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Hill Street, Mary Street, Taylor St, Fox Street, Hind Hill Street, Market Place, Market Street, Hill St and will be signed on site.

Location: Holland Street junction with Bamford Road

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Holland Street from a point 1 metre east of the junction with Bamford Road to 10 metres west of the junction with Bamford Road.

Expected start and finish: 7pm-10pm, Thursday, 15 March 2018

Reason: to facilitate the safe repair of a waste water cover in the carriageway.   

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is through Queens Street, Starkey Street, Bamford Road and vice-versa.

Location: Heywood town centre for Heywood St George's Day Parade

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along:

Hardfield Street (start), from its junction with Harwood Park Primary School car park to its junction with Hornby Street.

Hornby Street, from its junction with Hardfield Street to its junction with King Street.

King Street, from its junction with Hornby Street to its junction with Mount Street.

Mount Street, from its junction with King Street to its junction with Manchester Street.

Manchester Street, from its junction with Mount Street to its junction with Church Street.

Church Street, from its junction with Manchester Street to its junction with L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way.

L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way, from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Market Place.

Market Place, from its junction with L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way to is junction with Taylor Street.

Taylor Street, from its Market Place to is junction with Mary Street.

Mary Street, from its junction with Taylor Street to is junction with Hind Hill Street.

Hind Hill Street, from its junction with Mary Street to its junction with King Street.

King Street, from its Hind Hill Street to is junction with Hornby Street.

Hornby Street, from its junction with King Street to its junction with Hardfield Street.

Hardfield Street to Harwood Park School car park (finish).

Expected start and finish: 2pm-4.30pm, Sunday, 22 April 2018

Reason: to facilitate the safe passage of the Heywood St George's Day Parade.

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the parade, it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Pennines

Location: Cedar Lane

to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Cedar Lane from its junction with Newhey Road and Shaw Road for a distance of 20 metres in a southerly direction.

Expected start and finish: 6am, Saturday, 24 March 2018 - 6pm Sunday, 25 March 2018.

Reason: to facilitate the safe installation of cables in the carriageway.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians is via Newhey Road, Bentgate Street, Sycamore Avenue, Cedar Lane and vice-versa.

Location: Littleborough Footpath 302

to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Littleborough Footpath 302, LitFp302, from its junction with Littleborough Footpath 313, LitFp313, and Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, located approximately 180 metres east south east from properties known as Timbercliffe and running in a north easterly direction for its entire length to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 300, LitFp300, and Littleborough Footpath 303, LitFp303, located approximately 170 metres south west of the property known as Leach Farm.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 22 February 2018 - midnight, Wednesday, 22 August 2018.

Reason: to facilitate works to install a below ground sheet pile wall along the length of embarkment at the southern end of Upper Chelburn Reservoir.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians is from its junction with Littleborough Footpath 313, LitFp313, and Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, at E395045, located approximately 180 metres east south east from properties known as Timbercliffe along Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, and Littleborough Footpath 318, LitFp318, for the entire length to Longley Hey Farm and then in a north easterly direction and then in a northerly direction along Littleborough Footpath 303, LitFp303, for its entire length to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 300 and 302, LitFp300 and LitFp302, located approximately 170 metres south west of the property known as Leach Farm and vice versa.

Location: Littleborough Footpath 283

to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along part of Littleborough Footpath 283, LitFp283, from its junction with Todmorden Footpath 148, TodFp148, and Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, located approximately 545 metres east north east from a property known as Calf Lee and running in a generally south easterly direction for approximately 400 metres to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 283, LitFp283, located approximately 847 metres east of the property known as Calf Lee.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 22 February 2018 - midnight, Wednesday, 22 August 2018.

Reason: to facilitate works to reduce the risk of failure by seepage of water through the embankment and foundation at Warland Reservoir.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians is from its junction with Todmorden Footpath 148, TodFp148. and Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, located approximately 545 metres east north east from a property known as Calf Lee and running in a north-north-westerly direction along Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, then joining Todmorden Footpath 200, TodFp200, for approximately 180 metres to its junction with Todmorden Footpath 153, TodFp153, and then following TodFp153 in a south easterly direction for approximately 1,300 metres before turning in a south westerly direction between Warland Reservoir and Light Hazzles Reservoir for a distance of 600 metres to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 283, LitFp283, and vice versa.
