Community group cleans up Castleton

Date published: 16 May 2018

A local community group, aptly named ‘Clean Up Castleton,’ cleared six bags of litter from Moor Park Avenue on Tuesday evening (15 May) and over 30 bags near the soccer factory.

Mike Cullen, who set up the group in February, said: “Last night there was just two of us, but we have had others helping out. I do hope to get more people on board.

“We removed some of the litter from the bin on Moor Park Avenue that was overflowing, so it didn’t end up on the streets and it has been reported to the council to remove the rest of the waste.

“We cleared those six bags in around one-and-a-half-hours, and we did a big clean-up of over 30 bags near the Soccer Factory in around three hours.”

Mr Cullen will be promoting the group in the village with posters in the near future to encourage more people to ‘clean up Castleton.’
