Temporary road closure of:

  • The Esplanade, from its junction with Vicar's gate to its junction with Newgate.
  • The Esplanade, the entire enclosed car parking area south of the main carriageway,
  • Vicar's Gate, for its entire length.
  • Packer Street, for its entire length.
  • Newgate, from its junction with The Esplanade for a distance of 80 metres in a north-westerly direction.
  • South Parade, for its entire length.
  • Town Hall Square (side and rear), for its entirety.
  • Fleece Street, from its junction with King Street to its junction with Packer Street.
  • Nelson Street, from its junction with Packer Street to its junction with King Street.

Temporarily prohibit waiting on:

  • The Esplanade, both sides from its junction with Vicar's gate to its junction with Newgate.
  • The Esplanade, the entire enclosed car parking area south of the main carriageway.
  • Vicar's Gate, for its entire length.
  • Packer Street, from its junction with Fleece Street to its junction with Nelson Street.
  • The Butts, both sides for its entire length.
  • Newgate, from its junction with The Esplanade for a distance of 80 metres in a north-westerly direction.
  • Town Hall Square (side and rear), for its entirety.
  • Nelson Street, from its junction with Packer Street to its junction with King Street.

Suspend those parts of the Borough of Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Rochdale Township) Order 2008 along those sections of Highway specified in the temporary prohibition of waiting at any time in this order.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am, Saturday, 18 August 2018 - 6pm, Sunday, 19 August 2018.
Reason: to hold the Rochdale Feel Good Festival 2018.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be signed on street.

Restriction and location: Footpaths near Gilbrook Way

temporary closure of:

Rochdale Footpath 43, RocFFp43, for its entire length in an east north east direction from its junction with Oldham Road, Rochdale being 50 metres south south east from the most southerly corner of 2 Gilbrook Way, to its junction with Milnrow Footpath 331, MilFp33l.

Milnrow Footpath 331, MilFp33l, for its entire length in an east north east direction from its junction with RocFFp43 for 92 metres before turning in an easterly direction for 23 metres to its junction with Milnrow Footpath 329, MilFp329, and Milnrow Footpath 330, MilFp33O, being 123 metres east of the most northerly corner of 37 Sunhill Close, Rochdale.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am, Thursday, 14 December 2017 - midnight, Wednesday, 14 November 2018.
Reason: to undertake some underground cabling work.
Alternative route: there is no alternative route for pedestrians.

Restriction and location: Rochdale Riverside Development

Temporary footpath closure of: 

  • Milton Street, the easterly footway from its junction with Baillie Street to its junction with Smith Street.
  • Smith Street, the northerly footway from its junction with Milton Street to its junction with John Street.
  • John Street, the westerly footway from its junction with Smith Street to a point 100 metres north of its junction with Baillie Street.

Temporary road closure of:

  • Kelsall Street, for its entire length.
  • Acker Street, for its entire length. 
  • Constantine Road, for its entire length.

Temporary two-way traffic on Baillie Street between its junctions with Bell Street and Acker Street.

Temporary one-way traffic on Baillie Street from its junction with Constantine Road to its junction with Bell Street in that vehicles will be prohibited from travelling in a westerly direction between its junction with Constantine Road to its junction with Bell Street. 

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 5 March 2018 - 6pm, Thursday, 5 September 2019.
Reason: to build a new retail development.
Alternative route: due to the nature of the temporary orders, it's not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Restriction and location: Constantine Road

temporary road closure of:

  • Constantine Road for its entire length.
  • Baillie Street from its junction with Bell Street for a distance of 30 metres in an easterly direction.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 18 June 2018 to 6pm, Monday, 27 August 2018.
Reason: to build a new retail development.
Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists using Constantine Road is Lyceum Passage.

Reason: to replace a gas mains supply under the road.

Alternative route: alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on street when the closures are in place. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Restriction and location: Canon Street

temporary road closure of Canon Street from the junction with Halifax Road for a distance of 2 metres east of the junction with Halifax Road.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Saturday, 28 July 2018 - 5pm, Friday, 24 August 2018 as required.

Reason: to replace a gas mains supply under the road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Clarke Street, Dover Street and Halifax Road. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Restriction and location: John Street

John Street will be closed along its entire length.

Expected start and finish: 8pm-6am, each day from Monday, 20 - Wednesday, 22 August 2018 as required.

Reason: to resurface the carriageway.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Yorkshire Street and Entwisle Road.

Restriction and location: Heywood Road

Temporary road closure of Heywood Road from the junction with Bromley Street to a point one metre south of its junction with Manchester Road.

Temporary two way traffic along Heywood Road from the junction with Hanover Street to Bromley Street.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 20 August 2018 - 5.30pm, Friday, 24 August 2018 as required.

Reason: to install a new water service across the carriageway.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Hanover Street, Durban Street and Manchester Road.

Restriction and location: Lower Falinge

temporary road and footpath closure of Lower Falinge from its junction with Redcross Street to a point 30 metres in a westerly direction.

 

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 20 August 2018 - 4pm, Monday, 3 September 2018.

Reason: to install a new sewer connection in the carriageway.

Alternative route: the alternative route will be Toad Lane, High Street and Redcross Street.

temporary cycle lane closure:

On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazlehurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.

From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazlehurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 16 July 2018 - 6pm, Wednesday, 15 January 2020.
Reason: to allow access to a housing development site. 
Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

Restriction and location: Cross Street

temporary emergency road closure of:

Cross Street, from a point 30 metres north east of its junction with Trinity Street and Henry Street.

Henry Street, from its junction with Cross Street for a distance of 15 metres in a south easterly direction.

Expected start and finish: 9am, Friday, 27 July 2018 - 9am, Friday, 17 August 2018 or as required.

Reason: to repair a damaged sewer.

Restriction and location: Grimshaw Lane

temporary emergency road closure of Grimshaw Lane, from its junction with Newbank Close to its junction with Wood Lane.

Expected start and finish: works began on 8am, Tuesday, 7 August 2018 and will run until Tuesday, 28 August 2018 at the latest.

Reason: to repair a leaking water main and damage to the carriageway.

temporary closure of Heywood Footpath 117, HeyFp117, from its junction with restricted byway RocARuppl6 and footpath RocAFpl0 at Deans Brow (point A) continuing in a northerly direction for 22 metres (point B) and then proceeding in a generally north north west direction for 1,044 metres to the most southerly corner of Naden Higher Reservoir (point C).

Expected start and finish: 12.01am, Thursday, 26 April 2018 - midnight, Friday, 26 October 2018

Reason: to work on underground cables.

Alternative route: there is no alternative route for pedestrians.

Restriction and location: Roeacre Street

temporary road closure of Roeacre Street from its junction with Rochdale Road East for a distance of 55 metres in a south easterly direction.

Expected start and finish: 7am, Saturday, 4 August 2018 - 7pm, Monday, 6 August 2018.

Reason: to install new electricity cables under the road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Rochdale Road East and Green Lane.

temporary road closure of:

  • Sefton Street - for its entire length.
  • Manchester Street - for its entire length.
  • Church Street - from its junction with Manchester Street to its junction with Hartley Street.

  • York Street - from its junction with Hartley Street to its junction with Queens Park Road.
  • Queens Park Road - from its junction with York Street to Queens Park.

Expected start and finish: 1pm-3pm, Sunday, 2 September 2018.

Reason: to hold the Heywood Charities Fete Parade

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the event, it's not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

temporary road closure of Birtle Road, from its junction with Weythorne Drive for its entire length in a northerly direction.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am - 4.30pm, Monday, 3 September 2018 - Monday, 10 September 2018 as required.

Reason: to resurface the carriageway.

Restrictions and location: Seymour Street

temporary one-way working:

in an easterly direction along Seymour Street from its junction with Coomassie Street to its junction with Walker Street. Vehicles will not be permitted to travel from Walker Street to Coomassie Street in that direction.

in a southerly direction along Walker Street from its junction with Seymour Street to its junction with Egerton Street. Vehicles will not be permitted to travel from Egerton Street to Seymour Street in that direction.

temporarily prohibit vehicles from turning left or right from Egerton Street onto Walker Street.

temporarily prohibit vehicles from waiting at any time along the southerly side of Seymour Street. This will be from a point 21 metres east of its junction with Coomassie Road, to its junction with Walker Street.  

Expected start and finish: 7am, Monday, 27 August 2018 - 6pm, Monday, 10 September 2018.

Reason: to install apparatus in the carriageway.

Alternative route: Egerton Street and Coomassie Street.

temporary closure of Littleborough Footpath 302, LitFp302, from its junction with Littleborough Footpath 313, LitFp313, and Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, located approximately 180 metres east south east from properties known as Timbercliffe and running in a north easterly direction for its entire length to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 300, LitFp300, and Littleborough Footpath 303, LitFp303, located approximately 170 metres south west of the property known as Leach Farm.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 22 February 2018 - midnight, Wednesday, 22 August 2018.

Reason: to install a sheet pile wall under the road along the length of embankment at the southern end of Upper Chelburn Reservoir.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians is from its junction with Littleborough Footpath 313, LitFp313, and Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, at E395045, located approximately 180 metres east south east from properties known as Timbercliffe along Littleborough Footpath 317, LitFp317, and Littleborough Footpath 318, LitFp318, for the entire length to Longley Hey Farm and then in a north easterly direction and then in a northerly direction along Littleborough Footpath 303, LitFp303, for its entire length to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 300 and 302, LitFp300 and LitFp302, located approximately 170 metres south west of the property known as Leach Farm.

temporary closure of Littleborough Footpath 283, LitFp283, from its junction with Todmorden Footpath 148, TodFp148, and Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, located approximately 545 metres east north east from a property known as Calf Lee and running in a generally south easterly direction for approximately 400 metres to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 283, LitFp283, located approximately 847 metres east of the property known as Calf Lee.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 22 February 2018 - midnight, Wednesday, 22 August 2018.

Reason: to allow works on reducing the risk of failure by seepage of water through the embankment and foundation at Warland Reservoir.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians is from its junction with Todmorden Footpath 148, TodFp148. and Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, located approximately 545 metres east north east from a property known as Calf Lee and running in a north-north-westerly direction along Todmorden Footpath 152, TodFp152, then joining Todmorden Footpath 200, TodFp200, for approximately 180 metres to its junction with Todmorden Footpath 153, TodFp153, and then following TodFp153 in a south easterly direction for approximately 1,300 metres before turning in a south westerly direction between Warland Reservoir and Light Hazzles Reservoir for a distance of 600 metres to its junction with Littleborough Footpath 283 and LitFp283.

temporary road closure of Croft Street from its junction with Halifax Road, for a distance of 10 metres in a northerly direction.

temporary suspension of one-way restriction along Croft Street, from its junction with Halifax Road to its junction with Ashbrook Hey Lane. Traffic will be able to travel in both directions during this time.

Expected start and finish : 8am - 6pm, Thursday, 6 September 2018.

Reason: to repair the carriageway. 

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Halifax Road, Ashbrook Hey Lane and Croft Street.

Restriction and location: Turvin Road

temporary road closure of Turvin Road, from its junction with Halifax Road to the borough boundary.

Expected start and finish: 9am - 2.30pm, Sunday, 23 September 2018.

Reason: to hold the Cragg Challenge 2018. 

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Halifax Road, Todmorden Road / Rochdale Road, Halifax Road and Burnley Road.
