Tyre track damage in Springfield Park

Date published: 12 September 2018

Grassy areas in Springfield Park have become damaged as vehicles have taken to driving across them.

Posts separating the road from the grass at the top of the park have also been removed, close to the tyre tracks present across the pasture.

This isn’t the first time such damage has been caused in the park, with similar photos being taken during the vicious March snowstorms.

Speaking at the time, a representative for the Friends of Springfield Park said: “It is always very saddening to see this sort of destructive activity which negates a lot of the wonderful work done in the park by our Friends group.

“I believe that the idea of gates on the maintenance entrance is a terrific one.”

The latest damage will be repaired in coming days.

A spokesman for the council confirmed: “The grass damage will be repaired over the next few days and will be completed by Friday 21 September at the very latest.”
