Students at Whitworth Community High School prepare for the Macmillan cake bake sale rush
Delicious cakes proved very tempting at a Macmillan Bake Sale at Whitworth Community High School and raised largest ever total for the charity - £367.
Isabella Taylor, 12 and Naimh Poole, 13, are on the school charity group and they had the important task of displaying the many home-made cakes and treats that were brought into school.
Isabella said: “It was the first event I have been involved with since I joined the charity group and the hardest part was moving all the cakes around and making sure I didn’t drop any.
“I had previously been involved in a huge Macmillan event at my primary school Britannia.”
Niamh said: “It was fun setting everything up and it is really good to be involved in a event like this raising money for a charity like Macmillan, but it was hard just selling the cakes because I so wanted to eat them.”
Cakes were sold by Year 11s to staff and students at break and lunch time and 60 cakes were bought by local businesses Anglofelt and BH Coates.
The school was grateful for all the donations from staff, parents and students and local bakeries.
