Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Shawclough Road (over Rochdale border), Bentley Street and Whitworth Road.

  • Norman Road, from its junction with Albion Road/Corporation Road to its junction with Church Street.
  • Bridgefield Street, for its entire length.
  • Bury Road, from its junction with Red Brook Street to its junction with Mellor Street/College Road.
  • College Road, from its junction with Bury Road/Mellor Street to a point 20 metres east of its junction with Holland Street.
  • Holland Street, from its junction with College Road to its junction with College Bank Way.
  • Mitchell Street, from its junction with Holland Street to its junction with Ashworth Street.

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the event it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Reason: to allow the investigation and repair of the carriageway and culvert following a landslip.

  • Ashworth Road, from a point 700 metres north of its junction with Bury and Rochdale Old Road for a distance of 80 metres in a north westerly direction (Between Ashworth Valley Scout Camp to the North and Gelder Clough Caravan Park to the south).

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be via Ashworth Road, Edenfield Road, Moorland Avenue, Bagslate Moor Road, Norden Road, Bury and Rochdale Old Road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles using The Esplanade will be Newgate, St Mary's Gate and The Esplanade.

Reason: to repair the waste water sewer in the carriageway.

  • Restriction and location: temporary closure of Albert Royds Street from a point 30 metres south of the junction with Reservoir Street for a distance of 20 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Albert Royds Street, Milnrow Road, John Street, Yorkshire Street and Halifax Road.

Reason: to allow access to a housing development site. 

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday, 16 July 2018 - 6pm, Wednesday, 15 January 2020.
Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.

From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

  • Bridge Street - from its junction with Garden Street to its junction with Dawson Street.
  • Dawson Street - from its junction with Bridge Street to its junction with Bamford Road.
  • Bamford Road - from its junction with Foundry Street to its junction with Market Place.
  • Market Street - from its junction with Moss Street to its junction with Market Place.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be signed on the street when the closures are in place. Pedestrian access won't be affected.

Reason: to allow the safe repair of a leaking water main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Thursday, 13 November 2018 - 11.59pm, Monday, 19 November 2018.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of 

  • Bow Lane from its junction with Hind Hill Street for a distance of 24 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is via Hind Hill Street, Market Place and Taylor Street.

Reason: to hold the Heywood Christmas Festival and Parade.

  • L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way - 3.30pm-6pm, Saturday, 17 November 2018.

Restriction and location: temporary closure of the following roads, at certain times of the day:

  • L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way - for its entire length.
  • Tower Street - from its junction with School Street to its junction with Brunswick Street.
  • St James Street - for its entire length.
  • Garden Street - from a point 1 metre north of Bridge Street to its junction with Bridge Street.
  • Bridge Street - from its junction with St James Street to its junction with Market Street.
  • Market Street - for its entire length.
  • Market Place - for its entire length.
  • Hind Hill Street - from its junction with Bow Lane to its junction with L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way.
  • York Street - from its junction with Queens Park Road to its junction with Market Place.
  • Bamford Road - from its junction with Dawson Street to the junction of Market Place.

Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles on:

  • L/Cpl Stephen Shaw Way will be York Street and Hartley Street.
  • All other roads will be Hartley Street, York Street, Queens Park Road, Bury and Rochdale Old Road, Bamford Road, West Starkey Street, Bank Top Street, Cherwell Avenue and Peel Street.

Pedestrian access will not be affected.

  • Egremont Road from a point 120 metres south east of its junction with Beechfield Road for a distance of 20 metres in a south easterly direction (Outside properties 81- 83 Egremont Road).

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is via Egremont Road and Beechfield Road.

Reason: to hold the Springhill Hospice Santa Dash or Dawdle.

Expected start and finish: 10.55am-11.20am, on Sunday, 9 December 2018.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of

  • Rakewood Road from the entrance/exit of the Visitors Centre Car Park to a point 20 metres south of the Unnamed Footpath around Hollingworth Lake, rear Lake Bank. 

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the event it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Work being undertaken: Virgin Media are currently installing new Fibre Broadband in the Pennines area.

  • Who to contact: for any issues about this work, please use the following methods to gain the quickest and safest possible resolution.
  • Contractors on site - contact a site supervisor. They are best placed to resolve many issues there and then. In most instances, this will be the quickest and safest way to resolve any issue.
  • Virgin Media Helpdesk - if unresolved, or there are no contractors in the area, or if the site has been left in an unsafe manner and requires urgent attention, please ring the Virgin Media helpdesk on 0333 000 5925.
  • The helpdesk hours are: Monday-Friday, 8am-7.30pm, Saturday, 8am-12noon. The helpdesk will alert the contractor and Virgin Media's compliance engineers.
  • Alternatively, please email expansionworks@virginmedia.co.uk with details of your address and preferred contact method.
