Eight-year-old boy raises over £200 for charity by growing his hair

Date published: 20 November 2018

An eight-year-old boy has raised over £200 for charity after growing his hair long and donating it to charity.

Yaseen Meah began growing his hair in August 2016 in order to help a child in need through Wigs for Kids, which provides Hair Replacement Systems and support for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, Alopecia, Trichotillomania, burns and other medical issues at no cost.

Yaseen’s dad, Phul, mentioned that there were children who could really benefit from Yaseen’s selfless act, and so Yaseen had his hair cut from his shoulders to a shorter style.

A family friend and hairdresser gave Yaseen his new style at his home on Thursday (15 November).

Phul said: “Yaseen asked if he could grow his hair long so I explained about the Wigs for Kids programme. He was really enthused about this and said he would love to do it.

"Yaseen really is the kindest child I have ever met and always goes out of his way to help others where he can.

“He has managed to get over £200 in sponsorship from family and friends: we don’t have an online sponsor form."
