Christmas Events - Whether you fancy a festive shopping trip to a Christmas Fair or Market, a night out with friends, taking the kids to a panto or to see Santa, singing along to your favourite carols, or making something crafty for Christmas then we have something listed for you.

The Oxford Christmas Markets 2018 – The Oxford Pub, Sat 1 & Sun 2 Dec, various times

Now in its fifth year, the market is a festival of festive food and drink for the whole family.

One Nation’s Big Winter Sleep Out – Rochdale Islamic Academy Boys Division, 9pm to sunrise

Join us to raise awareness and funds for our Emergency Winter Appeal as we experience the harsh reality that many will be facing this Winter.

Afternoon Tea with Lancashire Fire and Rescue – Whitworth Library, 2.30pm – 4pm

Enjoy a drink and snack whilst learning how to keep safe in your home over the Christmas period.

Safe Plate Operation – Tesco Superstore, 2.30pm – 4pm

An opportunity to have anti-tamper screws fixed to your registration plate.

Castleton Literary & Scientific Society – Castleton Community Centre, 7pm

This session is "Vincent the Painter" - an illustrated, poetic journey through Van Gogh's French period, presented by Robin Parker.

Ladies Night Out – Castlemere Banqueting Hall, 7pm

With a South Asian theme, there will be a combination of Bollywood Music, dance performances and interactive sessions with Emerald Dance Company.

Friends of Bamford Quiz Night – Bamford Bowling Club, 7.30pm

A fairy tale quiz with a difference, strictly for grown ups!

Live Music: The Machine Rages On - Empire Rochdale, 6pm – 4am

A tribute to Rage Against the Machine.

Small Business Saturday Market – Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre, 9am – 5pm

With 17 local retailers, this will showcase the amazing small businesses in Rochdale and create a great atmosphere where locals can discover new things.

Lighthouse Project Christmas Craft Fair – Lighthouse Project, 10am – 2pm

Organised by the local Slimming World groups to raise money for Middleton Central Foodbank.

Bee Wish You A Merry Christmas Workshop – Rochdale Pioneers Museum, 10.30am – 12.30pm

Make beeswax eco-friendly cling film and teacup candles.

Newhey Christmas Tree Festival – St Thomas CE Church, 11am – 2pm

Christmas trees, café open and entertainment from St Thomas School Choir.

St Chad’s Christmas Fair – Rochdale Parish Church of St Chad’s, 11am – 2pm

Festive stalls, cakes, jewellery, books and lots of childrens fun.

Thrum Hall Christmas Fair – Thrum Hall Methodist Church, 11am – 1pm

Children's trail, chocolate tombola, glitter tattoos and lots more.

Hopwood Winter Market – Hopwood Park, 12noon – 6pm

With stalls, festive food and drink, children's rides and activities.

Littleborough Christmas Lights Switch On – Littleborough Sqaure, switch on 6pm

The usual music, dance and fun-fair with santa and his elves.

Live Music: Stax of Soul Xmas Party! – The Flying Horse Hotel, 7.30pm – 11.30pm

Join our Christmas party with this outstanding soul band.

Soul and Motown Night – Heywood Civic Centre, 8pm – 1am

60’s, 70’s and 80’s sounds of Motown and Mod.

  • Sunday 2 December

Rochdale Music Service Christmas Cracker – Gracie Fields Theatre, 11am, 2.30pm and 6pm

All the music centre ensembles and the Primary Schools Orchestra playing your favourite songs for the festive period.

Christmas Steaming – Ellenroad Engine House Steam Museum, 11am – 4pm

Live music by Mick and the Moonshiners, craft and gift stalls and café will be open.

Fire Service Christmas Open Day – Greater Manchester Fire Service Museum, 10am – 4pm

Join Santa and see our fire museum attractions.

Queen’s Park Christmas Market – Queen’s Park Café, 11.30am

Looking for those Christmas gifts? We will have a large variety of stalls for you to browse.

Christmas Dog Show and Fair - Littleborough Cricket Club, 12noon – 3pm

Santa will also be popping in to see well behaved children and dogs.

Rochdale AFC v Portsmouth FC - Crown Oil Arena, 2pm kick off

FA Cup Second Round

Jazz on a Sunday – Newtown National Club, doors open 7.15pm

With live entertainment from Frank Brooker’s Happy Chappies.
