Liz McInnes MP statement regarding vote of no confidence in Theresa May

Date published: 12 December 2018

Liz McInnes MP has made the following statement following this morning’s announcement that Conservative MPs will hold a vote of no confidence in Theresa May later today.

Liz McInnes MP said: “With only weeks left before we reach the deadline for leaving the EU the Tories are more distracted and divided by internal squabbles than ever. Theresa May’s awful Brexit deal has no support from her own MPs let alone Parliament as a whole, and instead of doing what is best for the country, Tory MPs are now ready to launch into a lengthy leadership contest for their own Party rather than focusing on getting the best possible deal for the UK at this critical time in our history.

The Tories are letting their own internal divisions put jobs and living standards at risk and they are humiliating us on the world stage. Regardless of who their leader is they have no majority in Parliament - they are as weak as they are incompetent. It’s time for them to get out of the way. Frankly, Britain deserves better.”
