St Joseph's rugby league team celebrate School Games win at Hornets

St Joseph's Primary School rugby league team in were the stars at the Crown Oil Arena on Sunday, with children from the school appearing as the curtain raiser for Rochdale Hornets' win over Barrow.

The Heywood school team were celebrating their success in the Rochdale Borough School Games rugby league competition, which they recently won.

The rugby league team were given a tour of the stadium before showing off their skills on the pitch and meeting some of the Rochdale Hornets players, they capped it off with a photo opportunity on the pitch with Councillor Peter Rush, Chairman of Rochdale Hornets.

The Schools Games Partnership is an initiative that involves 43 primary school from all over the Borough and provides an extra two hours of PE lessons per week for participating schools.

Councillor Peter Rush, Chairman of Rochdale Hornets said: “Thanks to everyone at St Joseph's Primary in Heywood for coming down on Sunday and the Hornets' players for making them feel welcome.”
