Reason: to allow access to a housing development site. 

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday 16 July 2018 - 6pm, Wednesday 15 January 2020.
Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

Reason: to carry out emergency repairs to a waste water sewer in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9am, Friday 15 March 2019 for a maximum of 21 days.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Ivy Drive from a point 30 metres north west of its junction with Manchester New Road for a distance of 30 metres in a north westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Manchester New Road and Hall Drive.

Reason: to access a water valve chamber.

Expected start and finish: 7pm-11pm, Thursday 21 March 2019
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Long Street in a northerly direction between its junction with Long Street, Market Place, Assheton Way and Eastgate roundabout for a distance of 20 metres in a northerly direction. 

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Assheton Way, Oldham Road, Middleton Way, Manchester Old Road, Heywood Old Road, Coronation Avenue, Middleton Road, Hollin Lane and Rochdale Road.

Reason: to make room for temporary traffic lights and a pedestrian walkway while a scaffold is erected on the north side of Grimshaw Lane.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday 25 March 2019 - 6pm, Thursday 25 April 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary no waiting at any time and temporarily suspend the 1 hour maximum stay, Monday-Saturday 9.30am-4pm, on the south side of Grimshaw Lane, from a point 15 metres east of its junction with Glen Grove for a distance of 50 metres in an easterly direction.

Alternative route: due to the nature of the restriction, no alternative route needs to be in place.

  • Temporary closure of Claybank Street from a point 32 metres east of its junction with Cedar Avenue for a distance of 105 metres in an easterly direction. 

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Cedar Avenue and Furness Avenue.

Reason: to repair the structure of the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am - 3.30pm each day from Monday 18 March 2019 - Monday 25 March 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of

  • Moss Hall Road, from its junction with the entrance to Birch Industrial Park to where the road becomes Whittle Lane.
  • Whittle Lane, from where it joins with Moss Hall Road for a distance of 452 metres in a southerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles wishing to travel along:

  • Moss Hall Road in a south easterly direction is Pilsworth Road, Bridge Street, Dawson Street, Bamford Road, Market Place, LCpl Stephen Shaw MC Way, Church Street, Manchester Street, Manchester Road and Heywood Old Road.
  • Whittle Lane in a north westerly direction is Heywood Old Road, Manchester Road, Manchester Street, Church Street, LCpl Stephen Shaw MC Way, Market Place, Market Street, Bridge Street and Pilsworth Road.

  • Temporary closure of Peel Lane from its junction with Claybank Street for a distance of 83 metres in a southerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be signed on street when the closure is in place.

Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Moor Street from a point 86 metres south of its junction with Bury Street for a distance of 30 metres in a southerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Bury Street, Rose Hill Street and Regent Street.

Restriction and location:

  • Temporary one-way working and temporary no right and left turning:
  • Introduce one-way working in a northerly direction along Pilsworth Road, from its junction with Margaret Street to its junction with Bridge Street in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Pilsworth Road in a southerly direction from its junction with Bridge Street to its junction with Margaret Street.
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a right turn manoeuvre from Pilsworth Road onto Bridge Street,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a right turn manoeuvre from Bridge Street onto Pilsworth Road,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a left turn manoeuvre from Bridge Street onto Pilsworth Road.

Alternative route: the following alternative routes can be used:

  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Pilsworth Road in a northerly direction and wishing to turn right onto Bridge Street is via Bridge Street, Peel Street, Cherwell Avenue, Bank Top Street, West Starkey Street, Bamford Road and Market Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Bury Street in a easterly direction and wishing to turn right onto Pilsworth Road is via Peel Street, Cherwell Avenue, Bank Top Street, West Starkey Street, Bamford Road, Market Street, Bridge Street, Bury Street, Bury New Road, Heap Brow and Moss Hall Road or alternatively via Bridge Street, Dawson Street, Bamford Road, Market Street, Bridge Street, Bury Street, Bury New Road, Heap Brow and Moss Hall Road.
  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling along Bridge Street in a westerly direction and wishing to turn left onto Pilsworth Road is via Bridge Street, Bury Street, Bury New Road, Heap Brow and Moss Hall Road.

Vehicles won't be able to travel along Middleton Road in a southerly direction from its junction with Manchester Road to its junction with Manchester Road to its junction with Withington Street.
  • No turning left or right from Manchester Road on to Middleton Road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Manchester Road and Coronation Avenue.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Seymour Street, Coomassie Street and Egerton Street.

  • Willow Street – from its junction with Queens Park Road for a distance of 5 metres in a easterly direction.

Alternative route: the following alternative routes can be used:

  • The alternative route for vehicles using Queens Park Road is York Street, Market Place, Bamford Road and Starkey Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles using Willow Street is John Street, Hardman Street, Queens Park Road, York Street, Market Place, Bamford Road and Starkey Street.

  • Introduce one-way working in a southerly direction along Middleton Road, from its junction with Sycamore Avenue for a distance of 79 metres in a southerly direction in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Middleton Road in a northerly direction from its junction with Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout to its junction with Sycamore Avenue,
  • Introduce one-way working in an easterly direction along Glamis Avenue from its northerly junction with Middleton Road for a distance of 12 metres in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Glamis Avenue in a westerly direction from a point 12 metres east of its junction with Middleton Road to its junction with Middleton Road,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a left turn manoeuvre from Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout onto Middleton Road in a northerly direction,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a right turn manoeuvre from Glamis Avenue (its northerly junction with Middleton Road) onto Middleton Road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles travelling along Middleton Road in a northerly direction and wishing to continue over the Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout onto Middleton Road is via Coronation Avenue and Manchester Road.

  • Temporary closure of Smithy Bridge Road from a point 50 metres north-west of the level crossing to a point 50 metres south-east of the level crossing.
  • Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street and Halifax Road.
