Superheroes and Villains will be the theme for this year's Norden Carnival

Date published: 24 March 2019

Don your capes and vigilante masks and get ready to assemble – this year’s Norden Carnival theme will be Superheroes and Villains.

Children and adults of all ages are encouraged to dress up as their favourite real life or fictional hero or villain for the annual carnival, which will take place on Saturday 15 June 2019.

Carnival chairman Paul Ellison said: “We want everyone to come dressed as their favourite heroes and villains and turn Norden into a real celebration of our personal heroes and villains.

“Your hero can be absolutely anyone, be it a fictional superhero who solves crime, to your favourite footballer, teacher or a relative who served during the war. From beloved favourites like Batman and Superman to our mums and dads, heroes are everywhere you turn.

“Whenever you find most superheroes, you will usually find some form of baddie. If rooting for the bad guys is more your thing, we’d also love to see your costumes and have a battle of heroes versus villains for the coveted Best Dressed title.

“For me, the true superheroes of the carnival are those who have kept it going for as many years as it has, and I’m thrilled to be part of the team that will continue this hard work. Thanks to the ladies who have kept it going, they are true ‘Charlie’s Angels’ that any committee would love to have.

“I hope that the carnival has many more fantastic years to come.”

Norden Carnival was established in 1977 and has taken place every June as a charity fundraising event. It features a parade alongside a funfair, food and drinks, live music, plus a variety of craft stalls and fabulous raffle prizes.
