Man arrested after a woman was raped

A man has been arrested after a woman was raped in Rochdale last month. A 30-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Monday 15 April), on suspicion of rape. He remains in custody for questioning.

Shortly after 5am on Sunday 31 March 2019, a woman was walking through a wooded area near to the rear of Rochdale Town Hall when she was forced to the ground by a man and raped.

Specialist officers are continuing to support the woman.

Enquiries remain ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone with information to get in contact.
