Step it up in Rochdale for Diabetes UK this summer

Date published: 29 April 2019

Diabetes UK is looking for people in Rochdale to push themselves out of their comfort zone with the One Million Step challenge.

The challenge is to take one million steps over three months between 1 July and 30 September and get sponsored for every stride.

The One Million Step Challenge is perfect if you want to take steps towards a healthier you. You can take on the challenge alone, or better still, get your family, friends and colleagues involved. You can walk it, jog it or dance it. How you complete your steps is up to you. The money you raise while you do it will fund the charity's fight for a world where diabetes can do no harm.

Diabetes is a condition where there is too much glucose in the blood because the body cannot use it properly. Each week thousands of people suffer heart attacks, kidney failure and amputations because of their diabetes. But when people manage their diabetes well, they can avoid these life-threatening complications and stay healthy.

Diabetes UK provides information, care and support for everyone with diabetes – and for their family and friends – so they can manage their condition well. The charity campaigns to improve life for people with diabetes while its research develops new treatments, technologies and aims to one day, find a cure.

To register for the One Million Step Challenge, please visit the Diabetes UK web site. It’s free to register and there is no minimum sponsorship target:
