Family of Saima Riaz has paid tribute to her

Date published: 24 April 2019

Shortly before 3am on Tuesday 23 April 2019, police were called to a house on Royal Street to reports that a woman had been stabbed.

Emergency services responded and a woman – who has since been formally identified as 33-year-old Saima Riaz – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Paying tribute to her, Saima’s family said: “Saima was an amazing mother to three wonderful children.

“She loved her job as a nurse and was so dedicated to helping others. Saima was a hard working lady who lived for her family.

“Whilst we appreciate the support from the community, we ask for privacy during this difficult time.”

Shiraz Ashfaq said: “I have known Saima all my life. She was a bubbly person who would do anything for anyone.

“She has been taken far too soon and she loved her children. Their lives will not be the same without her. Rest in peace.

"Saima's best friend, Salina Ayub, has been devastated by the news and sends her love from abroad."
