Middleton Scout and Guide Associations St George's Parade

The Middleton St George's Day Parade started after a service at St Leonard's, Middleton Parish Church on Sunday 28 April where groups renewed their promises.

Middleton Scouts and Guides assembled on St Leonard's Street in Jubilee Park, behind the library and set off along Durnford Street.

The St George’s Flag, Guide Standard, District Explorer Flag and the District Scout Flag lead The Rev David Brooks, St Leonard’s, Middleton Parish Church, followed by dignitaries and guests, Liz McInnes, MP for Heywood and Middleton and District Guide and Scout Officers.

The procession then went along Rectory Street and Wood Street onto Manchester New Road and into Middleton Gardens.

The Union Flag was carried by the 1st Middleton Explorers and the Guide standard was carried by Guiders.

Groups taking part in the parade included:

  • 1st Central Rainbows, Brownies & Guides (Parish)
  • 1st Beavers & Cubs (Parish)
  • 1st Beavers, Cubs & Scouts (Boarshaw)   
  • 1st South East Rainbows, Brownies (St Michael’s)
  • 2nd South East Rainbow & Brownies (St Michael’s)
  • 2nd Beavers, Cubs & Scouts (St Michael’s–Tonge & Kirkway)
  • 2nd South East Brownies (Mills Hill)
  • 4th South Brownies (Alkrington URC)       
  • 5th East Rainbow & Brownies (Elmwood)
  • 5th South East Brownies (St Peter’s)
  • 2nd Central Rainbows, Brownies and Guides (Thornham)
  • 7th South East Brownies & Guides (St Thomas More)
  • 8th Beavers & Cubs (St Thomas More)
