Potential pizza professionals inspired by Linda Lewis Kitchens

Date published: 09 May 2019

Students from Kingsway Park High School recently visited Oldham-based pizza equipment professionals, Linda Lewis Kitchens (LLK) on Wednesday 1 May.

Grace Carr, LLK’s Marketing and Events Manager, kicked the day off with a presentation outlining LLK’s range of products and services, their company culture and what makes them stand out from the crowd in the catering equipment industry.

Once the presentation was complete and the students’ insightful questions were answered, the guests received a guided tour of LLK HQ.

The students listened attentively to staff members from each department explaining the duties their role consists of as well as their unique and often unexpected career paths that led them to their job at LLK.

The pupils were finally led to LLK’s bistro-style demo kitchen for an interactive pizza making masterclass with LLK’s Development Chef, Fabio.

The enthusiastic pizzaiolos-for-the-day got stuck in hand-stretching dough balls and even tossing bases before topping their creations with vegetables and halal pepperoni.

Paula Cliff, careers advisor at Kingsway Park High School and team member at Positive Steps, said: “The students loved it and got a lot out of the day.

“They really enjoyed the hands-on, practical experience of pizza making and also learning about the skills and qualities required to get into a good career. One student even said it was the best day of her life.”

Marketing and Events Manager, Grace Carr said: “Here at LLK, we are dedicated to increasing young people’s confidence in entering the world of work.

“In 2017, we were awarded the Oldham Business Award for Supporting Young People and as a result of this we connected with various institutions that have the same motivation for supporting young people.

“We hope events such as this one will inspire a generation to pursue their chosen profession with passion and confidence.”
