Reason: for the protection of the public while work is undertaken on the new housing development.

Expected start and finish: 8am-5pm each day from Monday 26 November 2018 - Monday 25 November 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of unnamed footpath from Bramhall Close to Elizabethan Way, from Elizabethan Way for a distance of 46 metres in a north westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists will be clearly signed when the closure is in place.

Area: Pennines
Reason: to replace the level crossing running rails across the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 11pm on Saturday 25 May - 6am on Sunday 26 May 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Smithy Bridge Road from a point 50 metres north-west of the level crossing to a point 50 metres south-east of the level crossing.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road and Smithy Bridge Road.

Reason: to install high voltage electricity cables in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am on Tuesday 28 May 2019 - 6pm on Sunday 2 June 2019.

Restriction and location: 

  • temporary closure of Whitehead Street, from its junction with Crossley Street to its junction with Rochdale Road.    
  • temporary suspension of one-way working along Crossley Street - vehicles will be temporarily allowed to travel in both directions.
  • temporary prohibition of waiting along Moorhouse Road, both sides from its junction with Rochdale Road for a distance of 15 metres in a south-westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles using Whitehead Street is Crossley Street, Moorhouse Fold and Rochdale Road.

  • the prohibition of vehicles order and one-way working order will be operative from 8am-6pm on Saturday 8 June 2019.
  • the prohibition of waiting order will be operative from 6am-6pm on Saturday 8 June 2019.

Restriction and location: temporary closure of the following:

  • Hare Hill Road - from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Greenwood Street.
  • Hare Hill Road - in a south-easterly direction from its junction with Sale Street to its junction with Greenwood Street.
  • Victoria Street - from its junction with Lodge Street to its junction with Wellington Street.
  • temporary prohibition of waiting along:
  • Hare Hill Road - from its junction with Victoria Street to its junction with Sale Street.
  • Victoria Street - from its junction with Lodge Street to its junction with Wellington Street.
  • temporary suspension of those parts of the Borough of Rochdale (Civil Enforcement of Traffic Contraventions) (Various Streets) (Pennines Township) Order 2008 along those sections of Highway specified in the temporary prohibition of waiting at any time in this order.

Alternative route: the alternative route for Hare Hill Road will be Church Street, Featherstall Road, Whitelees Road and Hare Hill Road. Any other alternative routes available will be signed on street when the closures are in operation.

  • Wellington Street - from its junction with Cornfield Street to its junction with Charles Lane.
  • Charles Lane - from its junction with Wellington Street to its junction with Butterworth Hall.
  • Butterworth Hall - for its entire length.
  • New Street - from its junction with Butterworth Hall to its junction with Royds Street.
  • Royds Street - from its junction with New Street to its junction with Sheriff Street.

  • Sycamore Avenue - from its junction with Cedar Lane to its junction with Bentgate Street.
  • Bentgate Street - from its junction with Sycamore Avenue to its junction with Newhey Road.
  • Newhey Road - from its junction with Bentgate Street to its junction with Royds Road.

Work being undertaken: Virgin Media are currently installing new Fibre Broadband in the Pennines area.

  • Who to contact: for any issues about this work, please use the following methods to gain the quickest and safest possible resolution.
  • Contractors on site - contact a site supervisor. They are best placed to resolve many issues there and then. In most instances, this will be the quickest and safest way to resolve any issue.
  • Virgin Media Helpdesk - if unresolved, or there are no contractors in the area, or if the site has been left in an unsafe manner and requires urgent attention, please ring the Virgin Media helpdesk on 0333 000 5925.
  • The helpdesk hours are: Monday-Friday, 8am-7.30pm, Saturday, 8am-12noon. The helpdesk will alert the contractor and Virgin Media's compliance engineers.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be War Office Road and Bury and Rochdale Old Road.

Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Cedar Avenue and Furness Avenue.

Reason: to facilitate drainage improvement works.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am Tuesday 28 May 2019 - 6pm Saturday 1 June 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary one-way working and temporary no right and left turning:

  • Introduce one-way working in a southerly direction along Middleton Road, from its junction with Sycamore Avenue for a distance of 79 metres in a southerly direction in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Middleton Road in a northerly direction from its junction with Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout to its junction with Sycamore Avenue,
  • Introduce one-way working in an easterly direction along Glamis Avenue from its northerly junction with Middleton Road for a distance of 12 metres in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Glamis Avenue in a westerly direction from a point 12 metres east of its junction with Middleton Road to its junction with Middleton Road,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a left turn manoeuvre from Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout onto Middleton Road in a northerly direction,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a right turn manoeuvre from Glamis Avenue (its northerly junction with Middleton Road) onto Middleton Road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles travelling along Middleton Road in a northerly direction and wishing to continue over the Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout onto Middleton Road is via Coronation Avenue and Manchester Road.
