Reason: to hold the Milnrow and Newhey Carnival, from 12.30pm-2.30pm on Saturday 22 June 2019.

Expected start and finish:

  • The prohibition of vehicles order will be operative from 12.30pm-2.30pm on Saturday 22 June 2019.
  • The prohibition of waiting order will be operative from 10.30am-2.30pm on Saturday 22 June 2019.

Restriction and location, temporary closure of the following:

  • Haugh Lane - for its entire length.
  • Huddersfield Road - from its junction with Haugh Lane to its junction with Newhey Road and Shaw Road.
  • Newhey Road - for its entire length.
  • Dale Street - for its entire length.
  • Station Road - for its entire length.
  • Equitable Street - for its entire length.
  • Harbour Lane North - for its entire length.
  • Bridge Street - from its junction with Harbour Lane North to its junction with Dale Street.

Temporary prohibition of waiting along:

  • Haugh Lane - for its entire length.
  • Huddersfield Road - both sides of its junction with Haugh Lane to its junction with Peppermint Close.
  • Newhey Road - the westerly side from the M62 bridge to its junction with New Street.

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the event, it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Reason: for the protection of the public while work is undertaken on the new housing development.

Expected start and finish: 8am-5pm, each day from Monday 26 November 2018 - Monday 25 November 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of unnamed footpath from Bramhall Close to Elizabethan Way, from Elizabethan Way for a distance of 46 metres in a north westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists will be clearly signed when the closure is in place.

Expected start and finish: each night from 11pm-6am Monday 17 June 2019 - Friday 21 June 2019.
Restriction and location: 

  • temporary closure of Smithy Bridge Road from a point 50 metres north-west of the level crossing to a point 50 metres south-east of the level crossing.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road and Smithy Bridge Road.

Expected start and finish: 11pm Saturday 6 July 2019 - 6am Sunday 7 July 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Smithy Bridge from a point 50 metres north-west of the level crossing to a point 50 metres south-east of the level crossing.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street and Halifax Road.

  • Nall Street will be closed from 7.30am-5pm each day from Monday 8 July 2019 - Friday 19 July 2019.
  • Edmund Street and New Street will be closed from 7.30am-5pm each day from Monday 29 July 2019 - Friday 9 August 2019.

Restriction and location: temporary closure of:

  • Nall Street from its junction with Bridge Street for a distance of 17 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Edmund Street from its junction with Dale Street to its junction with Clifton Street.
  • New Street from its junction with Newhey Road to its junction with Royds Street.

Alternative route: alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on street when the closures are in place.

Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Smithy Bridge from a point 50 metres north-west of the level crossing to a point 50 metres south-east of the level crossing.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street and Halifax Road.

Work being undertaken: Virgin Media are currently installing new Fibre Broadband in the Pennines area.

  • Who to contact: for any issues about this work, please use the following methods to gain the quickest and safest possible resolution.
  • Contractors on site - contact a site supervisor. They are best placed to resolve many issues there and then. In most instances, this will be the quickest and safest way to resolve any issue.
  • Virgin Media Helpdesk - if unresolved, or there are no contractors in the area, or if the site has been left in an unsafe manner and requires urgent attention, please ring the Virgin Media helpdesk on 0333 000 5925.
  • The helpdesk hours are: Monday-Friday, 8am-7.30pm, Saturday, 8am-12noon. The helpdesk will alert the contractor and Virgin Media's compliance engineers.

  • Rochdale Borough Council Highways - we need to be aware of issues being raised with Virgin Media. Please email highways@rochdale.gov.uk or phone on 0300 303 8879, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. At all other times, please phone our Contact Centre on 0300 303 8875 for emergency work on the highway.

  • temporary closure of one lane of the carriageway for a distance 120 metres west of 1220 Edenfield Road. Traffic will be managed at this point by 2-way temporary traffic lights during this period.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Athol Street, Red Lane and Halifax Road. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

  • temporary closure of Cook Street, from the junction of Halifax Road to a point 10 metres in an easterly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Bishop Street, Canon Street and Halifax Road. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Reason: to allow access to a housing development site. 

Expected start and finish: 8am Monday 16 July 2018 - 6pm Wednesday 15 January 2020.
Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

  • Manchester New Road from its junction with Oldham Road to its junction with Mount Road.
  • Mount Road from its junction with Manchester New Road to its junction with Kirkway.
  • Kirkway from its junction with Mount Road to its junction with Grimshaw Lane.

Alternative route: due to the nature and duration of the event, it's not necessary for an alternative route to be in place.
