REAG clean streets round Deeplish

Date published: 01 July 2019

Members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) cleaned Cecil Street, Deeplish, and worked on the adopted community garden, trimming the intruding branches, flowers and plants on Saturday 29 June.

REAG has adopted three projects; Community Gardens on Cecil Street and Henry Street and a back alley on Cecil Street and members of REAG regularly re-visit these projects to tidy and clean them.

Members of REAG removed weeds, raked the soil, trimmed the intruding branches and cleaned up dried leaves etc.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE said: “It does not take a long time to clean the area around your properties, houses and business.

“If we all take responsibility to keep the front, rear, right and left of our properties, we can make a big difference to our beautiful town.

“We meet every Saturday at 10am on Mere Street near Castlemere Community Centre, Tweedale Street, Rochdale.

“Membership is for over 18 years of age and open to anyone interested, everybody can join us.”
