Castleton Car and Bike Show, Rochdale Children's Literature Festival, The Big Games, Around the World, Rochdale Hornets v Toulouse, Northern Baroque Orchestra concert, Littleborough RUFC Rugby Taster Day and Live Music - lots to do in and around the borough this weekend.


  • Friday 12 July

Live Music: Mellow Baku - Touchstones, Rochdale, 4pm - 5pm

Vocalist, songwriter, guitarist and performance poet, Mellow Baku, draws on sounds of soul, jazz, reggae, folk and blues, combined with live vocal looping improvisations and electronics to produce captivating soundscapes and songs.


Live Music: Indigo Sunset - The Flying Horse, Rochdale, music starts 10pm

Top class pop rock function band playing music to suit all tastes from the likes of Duran Duran, Blondie, Lady Gaga, Human League, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, ABBA and more.

  • Saturday 13 July

Rochdale Reimagined - Number One Riverside, Tuesday 25 June 2019 - Friday 16 August 2019 Monday - Saturday 9am - 5.30pm

The exhibition of work by Masters degree students at the Manchester School of Architecture features more than 50 architectural proposals over five sites, including ‘In and Around the Railway Station’, ‘On and Around the Retail Park’, ‘On and Around Drake Street’, ‘On and Around Bell Street’ and ‘On the Riverside’.


Rochdale Children's Literature Festival - Number One Riverside, Rochdale, 10am - 4pm

Rochdale’s first Children’s Literature Festival.  Not only will there be a plethora of special guests, reading activities and performances, we will also be welcoming acclaimed authors, Michael Rosen and Frank Cotrell Boyce.


The Big Games 2019 - Rochdale Leisure Centre, 10am - 5pm

Link4Life's Big Games, has lots of activities for children and families to attend, free of charge. 


Paper Embroidery - Touchstones Rochdale, 10.30am - 12.30pm

The beautiful art of paper embroidery is an easy-to-learn technique.

Craft buddies Karen Vine and Trish Cartner will share with you how to pierce and hand stitch decorative detail to paper and card in combination with collage, stencils and ink stamps.


Peterloo: Witnesses to a Massacre - Middleton Library, 2pm – 4pm

Join the authors of the verbatim graphic novel PETERLOO: Witnesses to a Massacre for an illustrated, behind-the-scenes look into the research, writing and art that went into this historically accurate and visually vivid account of the 1819 massacre of pro-democracy reformers from around the Greater Manchester region.


Embroiderers Guild Cream Tea - St Andrews URC Church, Rochdale, 2pm - 4pm

Display of work, as well as a raffle and sewing sundries.


Rochdale Hornets v Toulouse Olympique XIII - Crown Oil Arena, 3pm kick off

Championship league game.


Northern Baroque Orchestra Summer Concert - St Aidan's Church, Rochdale, 7.30pm

This concert is a vibrant and dynamic collection of music from Vivaldi's Four Seasons to contemporary composer Bayliss.

  • Sunday 14 July

Bowlee Car Boot Sale and Collectors Market - Bowlee Community Park, Middleton, 6am for sellers, 7am for public - 1.30pm

Running on Sunday’s until mid-August.


Castleton Car and Bike Show - Mayfield Sports Centre, Castleton, 10am - 4pm

Cars, scooters, bikes, tractors - in fact anything with wheels. Something for all the family with fun fair rides for the kids, an F1 simulator, American cars, British cars, Japanese and even military and agricultural vehicles..


Around the World - Falinge Park, Rochdale, 11am - 3pm

An international culture event with food, fashion, craft and entertainment for all the family.


Littleborough RUFC Rugby Taster Day & BBQ - Littleborough RUFC, 11am - 2pm

This Rugby Taster Day is aimed at girls and boys aged 6 - 18 years of all abilities. The event, including the BBQ, is free for all players and there is no need to book - just turn up on the day and join in.


Wedding Open Day - Mercure Norton Grange Hotel & Spa, Castleton, 1pm - 4pm

View the entire hotel and see function suites prepared and fully dressed for a wedding, with different layouts and Civil Ceremony set up also.


The Big Games 2019 - Heywood Sports Village, 1pm - 5pm

Link4Life's Big Games, has lots of activities for children and families to attend, free of charge.
