GCSE results: outstanding results for Beech House

Date published: 22 August 2019

Pupils and staff from Beech House are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results this year.

Both Nicholas Dodd and Hiba Javed have both been excellent role models as Head Boy and Head Girl throughout their time at Beech House.

They have also led by example in their GCSE results, achieving six grade 9’s each with scores of 85 and 80 out of 90.

The bottom of a grade 7 is comparable to the bottom of the old grade A, whilst the bottom of a new grade 4 is comparable to the bottom of the old grade C. Grade 9 is the equivalent of above an A*.

Taking her exams 12 months early, Mia Greenwood obtained 10 GCSE’s (grade 4 or above).

Principal Kevin Sartain added: “Nicholas Dodd and Hiba Javed should be both congratulated on their results, and Mia Greenwood should also be praised in obtaining GCSE examinations twelve months early.”

Staff in the core subjects also celebrated.

Ms Savazzi has taught this year group English. They did not let her down, with 100% achieving grade 4 or more in English Literature. This success was almost mirrored in English Language, with only one candidate failing to achieve a grade 4 or more.

The science department was delighted with a 100% pass rate of 4 or more in the separate sciences and an outstanding 93% of the candidates being awarded similar grades in applied and advanced science.

Not to be outdone, the mathematics department achieved an excellent 89% pass rate with grade 4.
