GCSE results: St Cuthbert's RC High School

Students were celebrating at St Cuthbert's RC High School after collecting their GCSE results on Thursday 22 August 2019.

The bottom of a grade 7 is comparable to the bottom of the old grade A, whilst the bottom of a new grade 4 is comparable to the bottom of the old grade C. Grade 9 is the equivalent of above an A*.

Charlotte Burston achieved four grade 9s and five grade 8s.

Charlotte said: “I’d like to study law at university so I am going to do A-levels at Rochdale Sixth Form College in history, English literature, psychology and maths. The teachers here have been really supportive and I have made some best friends here.”

Esther Gbadebo achieved three grade 8s, two grade 7s, two grade 6s and a grade 5. She would like to study medicine and is going to Rochdale Sixth Form in September to do biology, chemistry and psychology A-levels.

Charlotte Ostafijczuk achieved the grades she needed to move on to Pendleton Sixth Form College in Salford to study a B-Tech in musical theatre. She would like to work as a dancer in the future or a performer on TV. Charlotte currently attends Turners Dance Studio in Rochdale.

Edward Healey achieved one grade 8, two grade 7s, four grade 6s, one grade 5 and one grade 4.

Edward said: “The teachers always talk to you and support you. I found the atmosphere here very welcoming.”

Jakub Watorowski achieved one grade 9, one grade 7, three grade 6s and two grade 4s. He is going on to study A-levels in maths, further maths and physics at Rochdale Sixth Form College.

Jakub said: “I can’t wait for college. I’m looking forward to being able to focus on the subjects that I want to do.

Reaghan Fay achieved two grade 8s, four grade 7s, one grade 5, two grade 6s and a grade 4.

Reaghan said: “I have got the grades I need to go on to Bury & Rawtenstall Grammar School to study A-levels in maths, business and combined science. I’m thinking about a career in accountancy or software development.

“I’ve loved every minute of being at St Cuthbert’s and I don’t think I would have got the results I did if it wasn’t’ for this school”.

Nondja Tavares achieved a grade 8, two grade 6s, two grade 5s and two grade 4s.

Nondja said: “I want to become a child psychologist so I am going to study A-levels in law, psychology and sociology at Rochdale Sixth Form College.”

Endurance Okundaye achieved two grade 8s, three grade 7s, two grade 6s and a grade 4. She is going to Rochdale Sixth Form College in September to study A-levels in biology, chemistry and psychology because she is aiming to become an anesthetist.

Other high acievers included:

  • Patrycja Szczepaniec - one grade 9, five grade 8s and two grade 7s.
  • Megan Clark - three grade 9s, two grade 8s and three grade 7s.
  • Alex Brogden – one grade 8, two grade 7s and five grade 6s.
