Area: Rochdale
Reason: to work on the drains and resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday 19 August 2019 - 5.30pm, Sunday 15 September 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of:

  • School Lane - for its entire length.
  • The Rake - for its entire length.
  • Furbarn Lake - from its junction with The Rake to its junction with Clay Lane.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be signed on street when the closures are in place.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair a sewer in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9am, Wednesday 4 September - 9am, Wednesday 25 September 2019 or until the work is completed.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Ann Street, from its junction with Dowling Street for a distance of 49 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Dowling Street and Milkstone Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to hold the Rochdale borough portion of the Tour of Britain Stage 8.

Expected start and finish:

  • The prohibition of vehicles along Broad Lane (B1694), New Broad Lane (B6194), Oldham Road (A671), Wood Street (A671), Molesworth Street (A671), John Street (A671), St Mary's Gate (A58), Newgate, Dane Street (A6060), Mellor Street (A6060) and Edenfield Road (A680) will be operative between 11am-4pm on Saturday 14 September 2019.
  • The prohibition of vehicles along the Esplanade (B6266), including the entire enclosed parking area, Town Hall Square, Vicars Gate and the Edenfield Road/Hutchinson Road bus terminal will be operative from 6am-6pm on Saturday 14 September 2019.
  • The prohibition of waiting along Broad Lane (B6194), Newgate, Mellor Street (A6060) and Edenfield Road (A680) will be operative from 8am-3pm on Saturday 14 September 2019.
  • The temporary prohibition of waiting along the Esplanade (B6266), including the entire enclosed parking area, Town Hall Square, Vicars Gate and the Edenfield Road/Hutchinson Road bus terminus will be operative from 11pm on Friday 13 September to 6pm on Saturday 14 September 2019.

Restriction and location: vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along:

  • Broad Lane (B6194), from the borough boundary to its junction with New Broad Lane, and from its junction with New Broad Lane to its junction with Oldham Road (A671).
  • New Broad Lane (B6194), for its entire length.
  • Oldham Road (A671), from its junction with Broad Lane (B6194) to its junction with Wood Street (A671).
  • Wood Street (A671), for its entire length.
  • Molesworth Street (A671), for its entire length.
  • John Street (A671), for its entire length.
  • St Mary's Gate (A58), from the signalised junction with Yorkshire Street to its junction with Newgate.
  • Newgate, for its entire length.
  • The Esplanade (B6266), for its entire length, including the entire enclosed car parking area in front of the Town Hall.
  • Vicars Gate, for its entire length.
  • Town Hall Square (side and rear), for its entirety.
  • Dane Street (A6060), for its entire length.
  • Mellor Street (A6060), for its entire length.
  • Edenfield Road (A680), for its entire length.
  • The Edenfield Road/Hutchinson Road bus terminus, for its entirety. 

Vehicles will be prohibited from waiting at any time along:

  • Broad Lane (B6194), both sides from its junction with Turf Hill Road to its junction with Oldham Road (A671).
  • Newgate, both sides, for its entire length.
  • The Esplanade (B6266), both sides for its entire length, including the entire enclosed car parking area in front of the Town Hall.
  • Town Hall Square (side and rear), for its entirety.
  • Vicars Gate, both sides for its entire length.
  • Mellor Street (A6060), both sides for its entire length.
  • Edenfield Road (A680), both sides from its junction with Rooley Street to its junction with Upper Passmonds Grove.
  • Edenfield Road (A680), both sides from its junction with Moorland Terrace to its junction with Shawfield Lane.
  • Edenfield Road (A680), both sides from its junction with Shawfield Lane to its junction with Shepherd Street.
  • The Edenfield Road/Hutchinson Road bus terminus, for its entirety.

Reason: to maintain a telecommunications mast.

Expected start and finish: 7am-6pm, Sunday 15 September 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of the slip roads of Edinburgh Way, northbound from the A627(M)..
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Edinburgh Way south-easterly direction, Queensway and Edinburgh Way north westerly direction.

Area: Middleton
Reason: to allow access to a housing development site.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday 16 July 2018 - 6pm, Wednesday 15 January 2020.
Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

Reason: to construct the new railway station access.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Wednesday 7 August 2019 - Tuesday 4 February 2020.
Restriction and location:

  • Prohibition of pedestrians from proceeding along the southerly footway of Oldham Road, from a point 90 metres west of its junction with Mills Hill Road for a distance of 80 metres in a westerly direction.
  • Prohibition of waiting on the northerly side of Oldham Road, from a point 30 metres west of its junction with Mills Hill Road for a distance of 160 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be signed on street when the closures are in place.

Reason: to work on the new railway station access at Mills Hill.

Expected start and finish: 8am on Saturday 14 September to 6am on Monday 16 September 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Oldham Road, from its junction with Baytree Lane to its junction with Mills Hill Road.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Oldham Road, Manchester New Road, Victoria Avenue East, Hollinwood Avenue and Middleton Road.

Reason: to repair a banging frame and cover in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am-6pm on Monday 16 September 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Lincoln Road from its junction with Minway East to a point 25 metres south of its junction with Mainway East.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Mainway East, Andover Avenue and Lincoln Road.

Reason: to work on the new railway station access at Mills Hill.

Expected start and finish: 8am on Saturday 21 September to 6am on Monday 23 September 2019.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Oldham Road, Manchester New Road, Victoria Avenue East, Hollinwood Avenue and Middleton Road.

  • Lincoln Road - for its entire length.

Reason: to work on a new housing development.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am, Monday 11 March 2019 - 6pm, Monday 4 November 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Claybank Street from a point 32 metres east of its junction with Cedar Avenue for a distance of 105 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Cedar Avenue and Furness Avenue.

Reason: to repair the pedestrian bridge and allow the safe passage of pedestrians only.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am, Thursday 6 June 2019 - 11.59pm, Monday 16 March 2020.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Schofield Street, from its junction with Cowburn Street for a distance of 32 metres in a south-easterly direction.
Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Walton Street, Manchester Road, Manchester Street, Hardfield Street and Schofield Street.

Reason: to repair a burst water main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am on Monday 2 September to 6pm on Friday 13 September 2019.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Bury and Rochdale Old Road, Queens Park Road and Heywood Hall Road.

Work being undertaken: Virgin Media are currently installing new Fibre Broadband in the Pennines area.

Contractors on site - contact a site supervisor. They are best placed to resolve many issues there and then. In most instances, this will be the quickest and safest way to resolve any issue.

Virgin Media Helpdesk - if unresolved, or there are no contractors in the area, or if the site has been left in an unsafe manner and requires urgent attention, please ring the Virgin Media helpdesk on 0333 000 5925.

The helpdesk hours are: Monday-Friday 8am-7.30pm and Saturday 8am-12noon. The helpdesk will alert the contractor and Virgin Media's compliance engineers.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street and Halifax Road.
