Burglary at Wardleworth Community Centre

Date published: 24 September 2019

Over £1,000 worth of valuable equipment was stolen from Wardleworth Community Centre during the early hours of Tuesday morning (17 September).

CCTV footage from the community centre on South Street, Rochdale shows two armed men wearing hoods breaking into the centre before ransacking the office and storage areas.

The men are understood to have gained entry to the centre by smashing a small air vent.

Centre manager, Miah Mohammed said: “We think that these are experienced men, who took over £1,000 worth of resources, including IT equipment.

“Sadly, we waited for hours for the police, who told us they couldn’t do much about it.

“We need police to take action with more presence in the area because it could be another business or property in the area next time.”

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called at 10.06am on 17 September to reports of a burglary which occurred between 3.30pm on Monday, and the time of report.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
