Yorkshire Street, looking towards Rochdale centre
A number of businesses and homes on Yorkshire Street, Rochdale, were left with low water pressure or no water on Wednesday afternoon (9 October).
The water flow was restored to most of those affected at around 2.10pm, after the lack of water was first reported at 12.24pm.
A spokesperson for United Utilities has since confirmed the problem was due to third party damage to a pipe.
They said: "A third party had damaged one of our pipes in Station Road. We have a water tanker on the way to pump water into the main to restore the supply to the two remaining buildings who are still without water.
"Repairs to the damaged water main are underway."
United Utilities is yet to close the incident on their web site.
