Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival – various venues in Rochdale until Monday 21 October

This annual festival aims to encourage people to engage with books and ideas by hosting various events with the likes of authors, poets, broadcasters and performers.


Littleborough Arts Festival 2019 – Various places around Littleborough, Fri 18 October – Sunday 20 October

Each year, the town is invited to participate in a rich and varied programme of activities including visual art, music, poetry, participatory workshops and fun.


HAODS present Bugsy Malone – Heywood Civic Centre, Fri 18 & Sat 19 October, 2.15pm Saturday matinee, 7.30pm evenings

Heywood Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society (HAODS) presents its 30th production based on the hit 1976 film.


  • Friday 18 October

Health & Community Services 2 – The Lighthouse Project, 11am – 2pm

Up to 50 exhibitors all in one space representing the different areas of health and wellbeing - your opportunity to ask questions directly to the service providers.


Heywood Memory Wellbeing Café – Roeacre Court, 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Held on the third Friday of each month for people affected by memory loss and their friends, family or carers.


Springhill Hospice Halloween Party – The Royal Toby, 7pm – 12am

Spooktacular raffle and games, hot food, live entertainment and fireworks.


Rochdale Society of Model & Experimental Engineers Meeting – Castleton Community Centre, 7pm – 8.45pm

A talk by club member John Schofield on The Corris Railway.


Live Music: String Theory & Friends – The Curtain Theatre, 7.30pm start

An evening of Country, Rock, Ballads, Rhythm and Blues.


Live Music: Pub Lunch – The Flying Horse Hotel, live music from 10pm

Party classics to indie anthems, they do it all!


Live Music: Technique – Empire Rochdale, 6pm – 4am

Soul sounds of Motown.

  • Saturday 19 October

ToysARoo Launch Day - 38 Howard Place (Opposite Reed Hill Car Park), 9am – 5pm

Meet some superheroes and get your face painted between 11am and 2pm at Rochdale’s only specialist toy shop.


Norden Community Safety Event – Norden Bowling & Social Club, 10am – 12noon

Get the latest advice and tips on how to improve your safety and security, with local councillors and community officers.


Sign Along With Us – Crimble Croft Community Centre, 3.30pm – 4.30pm

Learn to sign to songs in a fun and friendly environment, all abilities welcome.


Classic Manchester Night – The Ratcliffe Bars, doors open 7pm – 1am

A night of classic Manchester music with live tribute acts and DJs.


Official Opening Party – The Crown & Shuttle, 8pm – 12am

Live music from the fantastic The Noel Fraser Band, free entry and curry supper.


Live Music: Fiery Biscuits - The Flying Horse Hotel, band on 10pm

Covers band who take popular classic hit songs and give them a rocky edge.


Live Music: Spice Forever – Empire Rochdale, 6pm – 4am

The ultimate girl power tribute to the Spice Girls.

  • Sunday 20 October

Middleton Town Centre Car Boot Sale – Middleton Shopping Centre, 6am – 1pm

No pre-booking facility available, simply turn up on the day.


Community fundraiser for St Patrick's RC Church – St Patrick’s RC Church, 11.15am – 12.15pm

The Community Wind Band will provide light entertainment whilst you browse a variety of stalls.


Jazz on a Sunday – Newtown National Club, doors open 7.15pm for 7.45pm start

Tonight we have Amy Roberts / Richard Exall Quintet.
