‘Friends of Hopwood Hall Estate’ to host gala dinner

Date published: 28 October 2019

The ‘Friends of Hopwood Hall Estate’ group is holding a special gala dinner at the Manchester Golf Club in Middleton to help support the rescue efforts at Hopwood Hall.

Hopwood DePree of Hopwood Hall Estate says: “The Friends of Hopwood Hall Estate are an incredible group of talented people with a passion to create new ways of involving the community in the rescue effort.

“We are hugely excited to be welcoming guests from near and far to what will be a great evening.

“I am constantly inspired in the quest to restore Hopwood Hall Estate by the enthusiasm and dedication of the local residents.

“It is encouraging to know that together we are going to reach our goal of a restored Hall for this and future generations to enjoy once again, and most importantly we are having great fun doing it.”

Members of The Friends of Hopwood Hall Estate (FOHHE) have been working hard to create a spectacular evening which will include a welcome drink on arrival, and a 3-course meal with wine included. The attention to detail includes naming the freshly prepared dishes to reflect Hopwood Hall Estate’s history with a cast of characters such as Lord Byron who stayed at the Hall; Lady Hopwood, the stoic lady of the house; and one of the desserts named after the Hall’s famous Ice House on the original estate grounds.

At the dinner, on Saturday 30 November, there will be entertainment and dancing with popular local duo 'Sneak Preview' playing a selection of hits, and an exclusive raffle with prizes including a large turkey from Wildbloods of Norden; a £50 spa voucher at the Norton Grange Hotel and Spa, and a golf taster lesson with PGA professional Brian Connor at Manchester Golf Club, plus more surprises, adding to the festivities.

Jacqueline Blyth, Lady Captain of Manchester Golf Club said: “This gala dinner promises to be a wonderful and sparkling event and I’m proud to be involved. Not least as my daughter in law and her family and my grandchildren were born and live in Middleton. I hope in the future that they will be able to visit the Hall when it is restored to its former glory and know their Nana helped in a small way.”
