Rochdale Connections Trust's hamper and shoe box appeal for those in need

Date published: 27 December 2019

On the run up to Christmas this year, Rochdale Connections Trust launched a hamper appeal and asked for donations of non-perishable food and toiletries that could be made into hampers for those families they work with who are in greatest need.

Alongside this they ran a “lovely ladies” shoe box appeal for women who have been adversely affected by domestic violence and abuse. The shoe boxes were filled with nice items such as toiletries, candles, gloves and scarves and Christmas cards with encouraging words of support were added, so the women know someone is thinking of them at Christmas.

Both appeals were resoundingly successful and the charity was able to make up in excess of 50 large hampers and 30 shoe boxes, which have all now been distributed.

Beverley Place, of Rochdale Connections Trust, said: "We would like to add our sincere thanks to all those who responded to the appeals and gave so very generously, and to all those volunteers who gave up their time to help assemble and distribute the hampers and shoe boxes.

"Rochdale Connections Trust were also fortunate enough to be allocated toys for the children and young people living in poverty that they work with from Hits Radio’s Mission Christmas. Again, we would like to extend a massive thanks to all those who gave to this appeal and have helped ensure local children and young people receive a present this Christmas.

"There are too many individuals for us to thank personally but we would like to specifically mention Mission Christmas, the local Co-ops, Asda Rochdale, Rochdale Police, Rochdale Council, Cryer’s Butchers, Rochdale Bath Bomb Company, The Nugent and Brown families and Rochdale Business Network.

"Once again, Rochdale has not let us down. Merry Christmas everyone from all at Rochdale Connections Trust."
