Christmas Greeting from Mayor of Rochdale, Billy Sheerin

Date published: 27 December 2019

Looking back, this year has been something rather special.

Having served over six months as the Mayor of Rochdale, meeting up with many remarkable residents, groups and businesses, it has been a privilege.

The warmth and kindness shown to my wife and I has been heart-warming, Rochdale has always been renown for the friendliness of its residents.

This is still very much in evidence.

So, I would like to use this opportunity to celebrate Rochdale, its diversity and strength of purpose.

I am proud to be a Rochdalian, and when asked where do I come from, I proudly say ‘Rochdale a mill town nestling in the foothills of the Pennines, in Greater Manchester in the county of Lancashire’.

Now that’s a lot to be proud of and we should never forget it.

My wife and I wish you all a wonderful, peaceful, and restful Christmas and all the very best for the coming year (which promises to be even more special with the arrival of Dippy) and many thanks for your support.

Billy Sheerin, Mayor of Rochdale
