Co-op's Local Good Causes chosen for Rochdale

Date published: 20 February 2020

Co-op Rochdale officially announced their three new Local Good Causes at the Cutgate Foodstore on Monday (17 February).

Representatives were present from Springhill Hospice, The Growth Project and The Friends of St Edmund's Church who have all been selected as recipients of funds that will be raised by members who shop at the Co-op across Rochdale over a 12-month funding period.

The funding works by donating 1% of the money spent on selected own-brand products by Co-op members towards a cause.

Co-op colleagues from both the Rooley Moor Road and Cutgate Food Stores and from Cutgate Funeralcare Home were present to greet staff and volunteers from the three selected organisations and to discuss ways they can work together in true cooperation style over the coming months.

Bev Place, the Co-op Member Pioneer for Rochdale said: "We are thrilled to welcome our latest round of local good causes to this scheme, which saw in excess of 17 million pounds donated to over 4,000 charities and community organisations in 2019.

“We very much look forward to working with the groups selected in Rochdale who all have very different aims and objectives but who are all providing equally valued services for local people in our community."
