Snow and ice expected before heavy rain

Snow, ice and heavy rain are expected in the borough this week, as the Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings on Wednesday (26 February).

The warning for snow and ice is in place from 10pm Wednesday (26 February) until 10am on Thursday (27 February) with wintry showers and icy stretches likely to bring some travel disruption.

Heavy rain from 12noon on Friday (28 February) until 9am the following morning may lead to flooding and disruption to transport.

What to expect

  • Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
  • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
