Strong winds forecast for weekend

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind this coming weekend (29 February and 1 March).

A spell of strong wind is expected to move northeast across a large swathe of the UK, including the entire north, through Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.

The warning is in place from 12noon on Saturday through to 12noon Sunday, whilst a yellow warning is in place for rain on Saturday morning until 9am.

What to expect

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely.
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.
  • It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves.
