Free medical supplies for those in need

Date published: 02 April 2020

Free medical supplies for those in need are being distributed by charity workers from the Human Relief Foundation and Manchester Pharmacy in the form of the Covid-19 Emergency Medical Response campaign.

The Covid-19 Emergency Medical Response campaign provides free medical supplies to those with underlying health conditions who are high risk, vulnerable and/or elderly and cannot leave their homes.

The teams are taking telephone calls from those who are in need, and then carrying out a free delivery service of free medical supplies, including to the Rochdale borough.

The free medical supplies include masks, hand sanitisers, multivitamins and minerals and other essential medication, such as paracetamol.

In addition, free medical advice is accessible from a team of qualified healthcare professionals. This will allow NHS staff to continue their work on the front line whilst the Covid-19 Emergency Medical Response continues to aid the community.

Zeshan Rehmani, the founder of the project, said: “A total lockdown is very much needed to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

"This is why the following service has been set up so that you can stay at home and stay safe.

"People really need to take the advice of social distancing and keep safe. I don't want vulnerable people going out shop to shop looking for paracetamol, face masks and hand sanitisers when we can deliver this directly to their door. I also don't want them to cut back on these things just so that they can afford the increased price of food.

"That's why we've set up COVID-19 Medical Response and we will carry on trying to do the best we can to help keep people safe in the community, especially the elderly."

Shareen Nawaz, Northwest Fundraising Manager for Human Relief Foundation said: “We are happy to be part of such a great initiative which not only helps the fight against Covid-19 but also gives us all a great sense of community. No doubt, we are stronger together.”

In just three days, over 200 phone calls for orders of medical supplies have been taken and a free postal service is available to deliver free medical supplies nationwide.
