Triplets from Milnrow have been busy creating headbands for NHS workers from old football kits.

The eight-year-old girls, Betty, Violet and Sophie Caton, have made over 40 headbands for PPE to attach onto after starting over the Easter weekend of 10-12 April.

Due to not being able to get out, they have cut up their football shirts, teddy bears and old clothes, and they have even spent their pocket money buying some buttons online.

The trio began sewing the bands after hearing their mum, Cathy, who works at Birch Hill but is currently shielding due to a pre-existing health condition, say she felt useless as she couldn’t help her colleagues, who had complained that their masks had been hurting.

Dad Paul said: “The girls have been sewing on a children’s sewing machine. Violet wants to make clothes when she’s older.”

The bands have so far gone to Birch Hill, Prestwich and the Intensive Care Unit at Fairfield General.
