Falinge Park High School students donate to Rochdale Foodbank

Date published: 08 July 2020

Students at Falinge Park High School have donated to Rochdale Foodbank through a virtual initiative called Falinge Pledges.

Despite the Coronavirus pandemic, the school has raised money to buy supplies for Rochdale Foodbank on South Parade in the town centre. This particular donation to the foodbank was raised by a year seven tutor group, 7NAL, who wanted to give to a local charity and do more for their local community to create ‘ripples of hope.’

Throughout the pandemic, the foodbank has continued to provide food to many people struggling to feed themselves and their families. It is currently being managed mainly by members of Rochdale Council’s staff as the bulk of the foodbank’s volunteers are within the age groups particularly at risk from infection.

A representative of Rochdale Foodbank said: “The Foodbank has been grateful for many donations from local supermarkets and organisations, and this recent donation from the caring students at Falinge Park is hugely appreciated.”
