Rotary Middleton cancels Father Christmas float

Date published: 22 November 2020

For over 65 years, Rotary Middleton has spread happiness and Christmas cheer by calling on local communities with Father Christmas aboard their Christmas float - signalling the start of the festive season for many.

Plans had been made to bring the magic to life in the usual way, but current restrictions mean that running the Christmas float safely for all was not possible and so the float will not take place this year.

Instead Rotary Middleton has moved online to offer Middleton some unique Christmas treats, from requesting a personalised letter from Father Christmas to winning money towards the cost of Christmas.

There is a creative colouring competition too with a chance to win a prize and a video message from Father Christmas.

Rotary Middleton supports the local community with funds they collect from the Christmas float. For them to continue helping communities, in what could be an even more challenging 2021, they are asking that instead of dropping your change into their collection buckets, as you would have done when the Christmas float called, that you help by donating online.
