Christmas toy donations delivered

Date published: 08 January 2021

Local community champion Sanya Karim helped make the Christmas period a little brighter for the less fortunate after distributing donated toys on Christmas Eve.

Community champions like Sanya are people from across the Rochdale borough who make a positive difference by helping others.

Sanya, who owns Something Sweet Cakes and Desserts and is also a group volunteer for Healthwatch Rochdale, handed out donated presents with her children on 24 December, following an earlier toy appeal.

Each present given out was wrapped, complete with a personalised Christmas card and was also delivered with cake baked by Sanya herself.

She said: “The children were so happy; this is why we do this. Thank you to everyone who donated to the toy appeal.”

The kind-hearted resident also made hot food and cups of tea for the homeless on Christmas Day, whilst her husband’s restaurant in Mossley also helped those in need with a free hot dinner.
