Wardle Academy Year 8 students attended a live online seminar with Amnesty International on Wednesday 20 January.
The session reflected on the different articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and explored examples of how human rights differ around the world, allowing the students to examine the development of human rights.
Staff say the session was a "key part of students’ personal development, appreciating diversity and respect for others."
One student in Year 8 student commented: "I found the live seminar really interactive and engaging. The session helped me to understand that human rights are not appreciated by all governments around the world.
"I really enjoyed finding out more information about Malala Yousafzai [a Pakistani activist who was shot by the Taliban when she was 15 in response for her activism around education] and am now eager to read her book."
