Drink driver detained by public sentenced to eight weeks in prison

A drink driver who was detained by members of the public has been sentenced to eight weeks in prison and banned from driving for four years.

Mohammed Mubin, 30, of Rochdale, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on 3 February, where he was found guilty of driving without insurance, driving whilst disqualified and driving when 2.7 times over the legal limit.

Mubin was detained by members of the public on Holborn Street, Sudden, after they suspected he was under the influence of drink or drugs when witnessing his driving.

Mubin was also ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
