Local bikers hoping to raise £100k with charity motorcycle ride from Rochdale to Pakistan

Date published: 14 February 2021

A local group of motorbike riders are aiming to raise £100,000 by riding from Rochdale to Pakistan in June.

The eight riders, who form the group Ride For Humanity, will be using the money raised from the 8,000 mile journey to fund sustainable and needy projects across Pakistan. This includes water handpumps, rickshaws, sewing machines, food packs, Iftar meals, school packs, orphans’ sponsorships, medical camps, clinics, repairing homes, farming equipment, livestock, and other essential aid.

Known as ‘Project Pakistan’, Rochdale’s branch of One Nation will be working alongside Ride For Humanity to assist with fundraising.

Shahzad Ali from the local branch of One Nation said: “Due to the Covid-19 situation all of our fundraising is currently online. This is not the easiest way to fundraise for such a large amount, so we do need the continued support from our community to hit the £100,000 target.

“If anyone would like to help us fundraise, they can call us on 01706 669086 or they can come see us in our office at 18 Milkstone Road, Rochdale. Alternatively, they could donate on the website or they can come into the office to donate.

“This is a one-of-a-kind project, and we would love to see our riders succeed with their project. We would also like to thank everyone that has supported us already.”

A representative of Ride For Humanity said: “We will be embarking on our 8,000 mile journey this June and have set ourselves an ambitious target of £100,000. This is our biggest ride yet and we can't do it without your support.

“At only 7 years old, Abdur-Rahman is one of our youngest fundraisers. He is an absolute inspiration to us all. We would like to thank Abdur-Rahman for his hard work and dedication. It’s amazing to see so much compassion for other at such a young age.

“Thank you to everyone who has supported our appeal so far.”
