Beech House students once again aiming high in National ISA Arts Finals this year

Date published: 15 February 2021

The National Independent Schools Association (ISA) Arts Finals are being held online this year, and Rochdale’s Beech House art students are once again aiming high.

The ISA National Art Competition is held annually for schools to showcase their pupils’ art and for teachers to share best practice and ideas. There are dozens of classes to cover different age groups and genres, from 2D art, through to fashion and photography.

Last year, two former Beech House students won awards at the Art Finals in Leeds.

As the finals are being held online this year, finalists' work from Beech House school can be viewed in a virtual gallery before judging commences and the results are announced at the start of March 2021.

Finalists are as follows:

  • Art 2D - Individual Key Stage 4 - Ella Raw - Face
  • Art 3D – Individual Key Stage 4 - Ella Raw - Owl
  • Art 3D – EYFS Group – Humpty
  • Textiles – Individual Key Stage 4 - Nicole Healey - Friendship
  • Drawing Key Stage 2 - Harriet Whitbread - Fruit
  • Drawing Key Stage 3 - Anique Ali - Hands

Nicole Healey was one of the 35 pupils in the country nominated for the ISA Whitbread Memorial Prize. This is for the outstanding involvement in – and service to – wider aspects of school and community life; in conjunction with achieving academic excellence in GCSE results.

Kevin Sartain, principal at Beech House which opened its Manchester Road doors in 1850, said: “We wish our finalists luck when the competition is judged in March.”

The student’s artwork can be viewed in the online exhibition:
