Rochdale set to run this October: Discounted entry for Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon and 10K

Date published: 26 February 2021

Organisers of the Williams BMW Rochdale Half Marathon and 10K have announced that the event will go ahead in October 2021, following the cancellation of last year's event due to the pandemic.

Entries are open and the fees for the half marathon and 10K have been reduced by £4.60 for entries received by 31 March 2021.

Over 250 people have already signed up for the event which returns on Sunday 3 October.

If you booked to enter in 2020 then your place has automatically rolled over to 2021 (unless a refund was requested when last year’s races were cancelled).

Races will start and finish on The Esplanade in Rochdale town centre, they will be chip-timed on fully-marshalled traffic-free courses, with a technical t-shirt and medal handed out to finishers.

Since 2015 over 5,800 people have taken part in the event, which takes in town and picturesque countryside scenes like Hollingworth Lake. The courses are relatively flat and organisers say this makes them great for personal bests.

Councillor Janet Emsley the council’s cabinet member for a safer and inclusive community, said: “We are planning for this event to go ahead in October and are cautiously starting to look towards the autumn with some optimism.

“As always, places are limited, and we were very close to a sell-out in 2019 so I do advise early booking. There are likely to be some new measures to ensure runners, staff and spectators are kept safe and of course any guidelines in place this October will be met.”

“I think everyone needs something to aim for, something to look forward to and train for and whatever your level, this event delivers that. The support and camaraderie is always amazing with a friendly atmosphere, personal bests achieved and thousands raised for good causes including our official charity Springhill Hospice. I hope our generous discounts until 31 March help make it an even better value event.”

Half marathon places now cost £26.80 for club-runners, £28.80 for non-club runners, while the 10K is £16 for club runners, £18 for non-club runners. Fun Run entry will open in June 2021.
