St Thomas Cubs and Scouts clean up Kirkholt

Date published: 14 June 2021

The Cubs and Scouts from 1st Rochdale (St Thomas) Baden Powell Scout Group took part in the Great British Spring Clean on Spring Bank Holiday (Monday 31 May).

Armed with litter pick bags and high-vis vests, the group spent a few hours tidying the area around their base at St Thomas Church, Kirkholt.

Kim Astwood-Wainwright, Cub Master for 1st Rochdale (St Thomas) Baden Powell Scout Group, said: “Our main ethos is helping others at all times, so it was delightful to have so many of our children spend their bank holiday helping to clean up the area.

“The children were extremely vigilant ensuring they picked up every single piece of litter they could find and for that they are true #LitterHeroes.

“As a scout group it is one of our main priorities to ensure the community in which we are based know that we are here doing what we can to bring new opportunities for the children.

“The leaders of our group are very proud of the wonderful caring children that we have.”

Beavers and Cubs meet on Thursday evenings and Scouts meet on Monday evenings at St Thomas Church, Kirkholt. For any enquiries, please contact Kim Astwood-Wainwright (Cub Master) on 07718 137 457.
