Littleborough pupils have heaps of fun in Devon after trip to France is cancelled

Date published: 16 July 2021

While the Covid pandemic meant that a Littleborough school’s biannual trip to the South of France had to be cancelled, 60 of its Year 5 and 6 pupils were lucky enough to swap the French Riviera for one closer to home with a five-night activity holiday on the English Riviera, near Torquay.

The children from Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, who returned last week, stayed at PGL’s Barton Hall in Devon and were able to try a wide range of fun activities and challenges including abseiling, kayaking, zip wires, raft building and climbing.

Mark Kenyon, head teacher, commented: “The French trip is typically a rite of passage for our children and we were so sad when we realised that it obviously wouldn’t be able to go ahead this year.

“However, thanks to the commitment of our staff, we were able to run an alternative holiday to Devon – which proved to be every bit as memorable and special as our traditional trip to France and Barcelona.

“The children were fantastically behaved as always and enjoyed being challenged by some exciting activities.

“It really was the perfect antidote to a difficult year for all of us and I thank everyone involved for making it such a wonderful and unforgettable trip.”
