Springhill supporters step out in memory of loved ones at a Walk to Remember

Date published: 25 September 2021

Hundreds of walkers joined together on Saturday 18 September to take part in Springhill’s brand new Walk to Remember event.

Supporters took on a challenging 10-mile circular route; starting at Springhill Hospice, through Milnrow to Ogden Reservoir and then returning back to Springhill for the finish line where they were presented with their well-deserved medal and refreshments.

Participants in the Walk to Remember set of at 10.30am from Springhill Hospice, with the final walkers returning at 3.30pm. Spirits were high on what turned out to be a very sunny Saturday, as members of the local community made new companions as they all stepped out in support of Springhill.

People of all ages and backgrounds from the Rochdale community joined forces to pay tribute to someone they have loved and lost; messages to their loved ones were proudly displayed on the back of their Walk to Remember t-shirts.

Motorbikes 4 You, a regular Springhill Hospice supporter, kindly sponsored the Walk to remember t-shirts sported by over 200 people.

Rebekah Cheshire, Springhill’s Events and Campaigns Fundraiser, commented: “Our first ever Springhill Walk to Remember was a great success.

“It was so lovely to see everyone taking part in the sunshine, completing our brand new 10-mile route, all in aid of patient care.

“Thank you to everyone who walked, marshalled the course, volunteered with setting up and refreshments, and supported this fabulous fundraising event; it was wonderful to see you all.”
