Castleton magnet fisher to hold 24-hour event

Date published: 24 September 2021

Castleton magnet fisher Scott Bryant will be fishing for a full 24-hours at Manchester’s Piccadilly basin this weekend.

Scott will be fishing in the city centre from midday on Saturday through to midday on Sunday in aid of Help for Heroes.

Scott, who regularly posts videos to YouTube, says the event is a “world first” which will also see other YouTubers attend.

Scott took up the unusual hobby of magnet fishing in late 2018, after his stepson introduced him to the activity.

His hobby previously enabled him to reunite a recovered safe with its owner after being stolen in an armed robbery in Whitworth over 10 years ago, plus jewellery and sentimental items.

Scott has also found a World War One victory medal when magnet fishing near Queensway.

Donations can be made via PayPal or Scott will have a donations bucket with him throughout the feat.

A raffle will also take place.
